Heather and Chris - Cross Country Move

After graduating from the University of North Carolina with adegree in Journalism and Advertising, Heather returned to Los Angeles with the UNC Hollywood Internship. When she landed a job with Fox Searchlight, she called up her best friend Chris and said, “Hey, wanna help me move across the country?” The two packed up her car and, starting in Wilmington, NC (the most eastern end of I-40) they drove across the country.

Since her move, Heather has worked for Searchlight, Fox Reality and a private airline company called IFly. She also made another big leap in 2006 when she moved back East to Manhattan and became the Marketing Director for Sales Graphics. … But who can resist the LA sunshine? In June of 2007 Heather returned to LA where she plans to stay for a good long while. Heather enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, surfing, great restaurants, film and spending time with friends. In addition to being the Publisher of Survive the City, Heather is the Editor in Chief of BarkMagazine.com and the Marketing Director for ChildrenInFilm.com. She hopes her experiences will make her a great “Survive the City” Guide so that others can come to love LA the way she has.

written, produced and performed original theater; written, sung and recorded music with the band Agent Vertigo; sold her handmade cards, collages and scarves at craft fairs and via her Etsy shop; begun working on a linguistics degree.

By day, she proofreads and copy edits; once safely home, she reenacts scenes from Extras to make her husband laugh, plays cars with her son, writes, edits, and secretly counts up the number of celebrities she’s met, because come on, we do that in LA. She enjoys typography and gin, and harbors a fervent desire to a) speak every language in the world and b) move to New Zealand, despite her intense and loyal love for the City of Angels.
