STC’s Breakdown for the Best Burbank Karaoke
In Los Angeles there is no shortage of karaoke bars, but only a fraction are worth your time and gas. Since moving here three years ago, I’ve been to more than two dozen karaoke bars all over this city from Santa Monica to West Hollywood to Reseda (located in SF Valley). What makes a great karaoke bar? The best ones are a mixture of atmosphere, crowd and most importantly song selection. The cream of the karaoke crop both happens to be located in Burbank.
Dimples 3413 W. Olive Ave. Burbank, CA
The most famous karaoke establishment in L.A., Dimples has played host to “The Tonight Show,” “Blind Date” and “Elimadate” among others. The Dimples experience is always best your first time. Dimples virgins are given a DVD of their performance, as well as, snapshot. You can also share your performance with friends and family who might not be in the L.A. area as they are streamed live on the web. What makes Dimples an exciting venue is not knowing who you’ll encounter. The bar has a wall covered with newspaper clippings and pictures of all the unique celebrity sightings. Who has been there you ask? Well, tabloid staple Britney Spears (during her infamous bald/wig-wearing period), P!nk, trash talk show host Jerry Springer and Kurt Russell to name a few. If you have a birthday coming up this is best place to be. The management goes the extra mile on your special day with offering you and your friends some champagne, a T-shirt and a “blowjob” shot. The only downside about Dimples is the long wait time. It may be hours before your turn comes to sparkle on stage. A way to avoid the wait is by offering the host a tip.
Sardo’s 259 N. Pass Ave. Burbank, CA
If you’re looking for karaoke with a little extra then look no further than Sardo’s. Sardo’s has specialized nights including “Rock Band” karaoke on Mondays, Porn Star karaoke on Tuesday, Trivia on Wednesday and Kid Friendly karaoke on Fridays. This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill karaoke bar. There’s nothing like slipping on your best rock star clothing and jamming out to your favorite song. Don’t really see yourself as a singer, “Rock Band” karaoke gives you the opportunity to shred or drum. The song list is consistently growing as new songs are added every Monday. Are you more of a people-watcher than performer? Porn Star Karaoke is the obvious choice. Is there a better way to spend a night than drinking and watching “actors” from the adult industry sing a little song for you? There might be, but doubtful it would be nearly as entertaining. The bar tends to get crowded quickly and it doesn’t wane till the wee hours, so if planning a trip make sure to call ahead. – Pablo Saldana
